The Backstory
Ethan Walker, the singer/songwriter for Sole has been creative his whole life. The spark for Sole started in college where he was watching music videos while studying. He came across the music video for Favourite by Fontaines D.C. and it inspired him to write a song about childhood and identity.
On the side, Ethan is also a creative writer, novelist and graphic designer alongside his specialty in songwriting and performance.
Our Sound
Sole is influenced by 90s/2000s alternative rock and indie. Heavily inspired by the textures of Radiohead, the driving feel of Fontaines D.C. and the production and tonality of Deftones. Blended with elements of synth pop and various styles of world music.
The lyricism is heavily inspired by poets such as Derek Mahon who focus on isolation, alienation and derealisation.
